Thursday night storm...

Thursday night around 11:30ish, we lost power in our house. The wind outside was blowing so hard- it relocated our swingset and Little Tikes play house. After we saw the swingset in the middle of the yard, Dustin ran outside to see what was going on. He came back and said how crazy the weather was getting. By this point, it was raining while experiencing the crazy winds.

We were settling in for the night and Dustin went to lock the door. Just as he did, we heard the loud noise of our tree splitting. We heard a huge thump as it landed on our house, the basketball goal, and our cars.

We opened the front door and all you could see is tree. It felt like we were in a jungle. I started to panic. We had no power, no swingset, and now their was a huge tree on our house. Thank goodness for Dustin being the calm one. He used that stern parent voice, you know, the one you use when you are trying not to yell but still be calm? Yes, he used that with me.

As the night went on, we finally went to bed. Friday morning came and school was cancelled. I also had to close daycare due to no power. Plus, it wasn't the safest environment.

Our saving grace came in the form of our friends. I had a daycare dad come over with tools, trailer, and chainsaw to help Dustin. We had several neighborhood friends come to help haul away tree branches . It was a huge blessing. Clean up took over 8 hours from start to finish and included two trips to the forestry.

Here are some pictures of our house... we were truly lucky, the damage was minimal.

Early Friday morning

The tree...

Crazy to look at these pictures and think how our cars were not damaged. The van lost one passenger side mirror.

Clean up in progress, it was not an easy task

I think it get worse before it got better

And the after...
