Today...

it is rainy outside...

and thundering...
and I have a little friend who doesn't like "nunder" at all...
She even brought her own blanket to hide under this morning!!!

Such a sad face... hopefully for her sake the "nunder" won't last long!!!

Gaby calls her baby sister "Kendi". The name is starting to stick!

First trip of the season to the ice cream truck.

Mia looking like such a big girl.

Gaby eating her ice cream that she was told "no" to, however she had gotten enough money out of her bank to buy hers and KK's. Because of that nice act of kindness, I cave in and let her go.

Last night was our 1st Annual Awana's Cubbie Carnival...

To celebrate an awesome year of the Cubbies Program, we had a carnival. This was our last meeting and boy, was it a blast. Every week 75+ preschoolers (3-5 year olds) come to learn about Jesus, have craft time, snacks, story time, and game time. This Topeka Bible Church's first year to participate.

KK last night ( every cubbie gets a vest and badges for saying verses each week) eating popcorn and cheesing for the picture.
We divided up into smaller groups... here is my group digging for treasure!
Photo both time...
Even Mia got to hang out, play, eat popcorn and "clown around".

Happy Birthday Lil' A...

This past weekend A turned "4". Today we had all of her friends here to celebrate!

In this picture he is saying, "birthday cake"
First we had to count the candles to make sure there was four...
Then he did a great job of blowing the candles out...

Happy Birthday A!

Dairy Day...

Today we made a food pyramid.
Each child had a color sheet of a food group to color and make "look pretty"

When they were done, the older ones were able to cut out their foods and help me glue the foods on our big pyramid.
Our finished product...
Today we also talked about milk and milk products that make up the dairy group. We took a poll on what kind of milk we like. Then they colored their class of milk either white, brown, or pink. We had a lot of strawberry and chocolate milk drinkers. As a treat, we made pudding and drank their choice of milk.

Our finished milk chart

More on food week...

We are continuing our discussions about food groups. Today we broke it down and talked about vegetables.
We made a sweet potato guy. We added eyes and a nose and he is living in water so he can grow some "hair". The kids love to check on him often.
I am all kinds of excited about this week... even though I have a lot of food and kitchen items, I picked up a few more things from my favorite money sucker store... Walmart!

We had 2 baskets of fruits and veggies. Our mission was to sort them by food group, then color, then size. My kids rocked at this activity!
We then used cucumbers, mushrooms, and peppers to do art. We used the veggies as our stampers and made fun food collages. We saved some of the veggies and ate them for morning snack. I was surprised that most of them like eating the mushrooms!

We finished up the day by going on a food hunt! I hid a certain food and when they found it they had to tell me which food group it belonged too. What a fun way to play a game and learn at the same time!

This week we are talking about healthy foods, food groups, and doing all types of food activities.
We started our morning by playing in our new "center", The Peanut Gallery Store". It had a register, sacks for bagging, food, and play money! The kids love it when I change up our environment and they loved this register!

We talked about the food groups and we went into our "store" and sorted our foods out by groups. We paid for our food, and even made pretend balanced meals. We had a blast this morning!

After our learning activities were finished, the kids had free time. I could not get them away from our new little store! They loved playing here.
For art we worked on a food collage of our favorite foods. Thanks to Dillons who had a ton of ads I stole, the kids loved discussing, cutting, and gluing all of their favorite foods on their paper!

Friday's Favorite pictures

I caught this adorable picture of Gabs, Kenni, and Dustin last weekend...

Flash forward 10 years and she will still be doing this...

Kenni's toothless grin, she has been smiling for a while now but it is hard to get a picture of her doing it.

Lil' Meela posing in her adorable Gymboree outfit I bought last week. She looks too flippin' cute in it! We'll see how long it stays clean! =)

another day of preschool learning...

We have been working a lot on letters in our names, spelling our names, and writing our names. Now we are ready to take it to the next step. My preschoolers that are moving to kindergarten this fall are working on writing names on lined paper.

first we traced our name then wrote it free handed... we still have a lot of practicing to do.

Today we read, "The very hungry caterpillar". The kids love this story so much. We even made some snacks to eat just like the caterpillar did.
My older kids practiced cutting today. We made leafs for our pom pom caterpillars to set on.

My younger group enjoyed the project too- just not cutting yet!
Our finished leafs and caterpillars... so darn cute!!!

Tomorrow we find out what our caterpillars will turn into... we can't wait!
