Listening ears and people pizzas...

To continue with our "All about me" theme, we made listening ears. We had some fun conversations this morning.
Me: Do you all have listening ears on?
Once child: I have them but they don't work.
Me: Why aren't they working?
Child: My mom said I turned the off.

Putting our listening ears on...

After our ears were finished, we played "I Spy" and they had to use their listening ears for clues and directions.

Today we started (gasp) cutting. We had a nice long talk what we do and do NOT use scissors for. Such a great skill but also a scary one!

Cutting practice...

People puzzles...

Big kids helped in the kitchen today... they made lunch. We made people pizzas. we had ham triangles for the eyes, hot dogs for the nose, cheese for the hair and mouth.

First they made their own pizzas then helped the preschoolers with theirs. This group is also doing a them in the afternoon of "Dairy Days". One of the kids commented to Gaby, "wow you have a lot of cheese on your pizza". Without missing a beat anther one chimed in, "well, it is dairy week".

They had a blast making their people pizzas...

Nap time can be a hard time for the older ones. They have to be a little more quite and most afternoons they have to stay inside due to the heat index. During this time, they work on crafts, games, DS or their theme activities to keep them busy. Today they are starting summer journals.
Some were happy at this and some were....not so happy! I try to find some educational activities for them to do to keep up reading and writing skills during their time off! Such a good group of kids!
