helper duties and circles

Everyday at circle time we name a new helper for the day. This is a big deal. We put their picture on the chart, clap for them, and sing the helper song (new this week). Some of our helper duties include: passing out spoons/forks for lunch
picking up supplies
passing snack plates out
leading our line to restroom/outside
picking songs to sing at circle time
picking out our after nap book
passing papers out to cubbies

This group has really loved being helpers. I love their willingness to try big jobs and to gain self help skills. Be sure to give them a huge pat on the back on their helper day- it's a tough job!

Today we focused on our shape of the week... Circle! (not square like our earlier art project was...oops) Today we used different sized cups and painted with them to make all kinds of circles.
Thin ones, thick ones, red ones, blue ones...

Today we used poly spots (plastic circles) for our movement games. When the music was playing we danced and moved all around.

When the music stopped, we scrambled to find a circle to stand on. Each time we had to search for a different color to stand on. A+ on following directions today!

Our second circle activity included the new hula hoops (thanks Dawn for shopping around for a good deal). First we walked in the circles, then outside of them. We did all sorts of moving like crawling, skipping, jumping, ect.
We finished our morning by making our own circle lunch! We had circle tortillas, circle peperoni, and circle black olives. We used our manners, took turns and made our own pizza's. To finish them off, we baked them for 10 minutes.

Yeah for circle day!
