more butterfly talk...

today we started out with an art/science project. This was a cool way to show the kids the life cycle of a butterfly.

The circle noodles represent the egg stage the butterfly starts as, then the shell pasta is the chrysalis it forms into. The corkscrew pasta shows the caterpillar stage then lastly the bow tie pasta is the butterfly. The kids had fun decorating their one of a kind butterfly and gluing the different types of pastsa on while discussing the stages.

Hard at work...
We moved on to making coffee filter butterflies as well. Little less science related art project!
My school aged kids worked in a center as we got ready for lunch. Magnets! They had a blast. They explored, counted, sorted, and just played with all the different types of magnets.
